A CALL for 60 SECOND VIDEO TRIBUTES
for the MARGO ST. JAMES CELEBRATION of LIFE & WEBSITE
As you may be aware, Margo St. James, who founded the prostitutes’ rights organization COYOTE (Call Off Your Old Tired Ethics), and later, the St. James Infirmary left her body on January 11, 2021.
We are a group of Margo’s friends, colleagues and a collective of supporters who are producing an international tribute event on May 1, 2021 — “virtually”. It will run an hour and a half to two hours. Everyone is welcome to watch.
WE WANT YOU
An invitation for everyone who wants to create a labor of love video homage to Margo St. James and the work she has done for sex workers’ rights and health care. Several select videos will be shown on May 1st, for the curated event, and all the others will be presented on the new margostjames.com website, which will be up for years to come.
Videos can be 60 seconds or less.
Friday April 9th. We need time for our team to weave the videos together for the event and add others to the website.
Introduce yourself or not. Do what you like, feel free to be creative: sing a song, share a poem, tell a Margo story, light a candle, do a sexy dance, say goodbye, do an action, make a speech, share a work of art, plant a seed, make a toast, name a star, perform as Margo, document a gesture, dress up, dress down, share a Margo protest sign, read a Margo text, share some cookies or cut a cake, say a prayer, do a blessing, make a wish, cast a spell, perform a ritual – whatever feels right to you.
Shoot your video horizontally with your phone camera, or using zoom (your computer camera), or a video camera. Make it minimal and simple or add music, text, or special effects. We are seeking videos from anyone and everyone that wants to pay homage to Margo, her memory and her legacy.
Once your video is done, you can fill out the following form, which has a place to upload your video.
Or, you can email your video file to our production manager email@example.com. If the file is too large to email you can send it via dropbox or another file transfer service. Please email Kim Teevan with questions or for any help or support you may need: firstname.lastname@example.org
